Monster Fur Testing: Day 2
So Neopaque has edged out the competition. Even before heat setting it binds to faux fur and survived water and did not transfer to other fabrics. Although does need to be diluted as it does change the texture of the fur. This coupled with some steaming to set the dye rather than low iron (which, if you have ever tried to iron faux fur is not such a great idea anyway) should get some softness back into the fur.
Back to the lab!
Currently making a fully posable critter out of about, oh, 7 different fabrics or so, cast resin and wood. Pieces and parts are all over the studio but today is for “testing”…
Spraying Faux fur with various test dyes and inks. In 24 hrs I will set them and see which can withstand oily hands, water and rubbing on clothing. My money is on the Neopaque fiber dye.
